I started experimenting with electronic media when I was eleven years old, making elaborate surrealist sound collages with music and voices recorded off of the radio. Since then I have been fascinated by the ways that technology can be used to shape stories. This fascination led me to design lights for dance and theater, to conceive and build numerous puppet shows for adults, and to complete an MFA in film at Columbia University. All of these experiences have impressed on me that every piece, from feature film to instructional video to minute-long cell phone adventure has a unique story at its core. As an editor, it is my job to unearth that story and realize it with every tool at my disposal. I use both Final Cut Pro and Avid systems, and I do all standard finishing for video (color correction, basic sound mixing, titles, DVD authoring, file compression for the web or handsets). In addition, I use industry-standard image manipulation software (Photoshop, Illustrator, basic After Effects) as well as compression and finishing software. For larger projects I can supervise a piece through post-production: sound editing and mixing, color correction, and then out to HD, film, or broadcast formats. |
